The thing is, if you truly experience it in its whole, life reimagines itself; you begin to cherish Christmas with souls who choose your company in all your broken splendour, you start to question the insanity of anticipating the beeps and buzzes of your devices instead of the chirps and rustles of the world, you recognise the vastness of the universe nestled between weekdays, you learn to appreciate the nuances of your fears – that growing old alone isn’t nearly as mortifying as growing old alone beside another, and you unlearn the settings on the equaliser that drowned out the bass of your inner monologue against your duet partner’s treble.
